Olympic glory on display at Culver City Historical Society

Stop by the Culver City Historical Society Archives this Saturday, August 4, between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to view the archive's Summer Exhibit. The exhibit includes an Esther Williams bodysuit, a Fiesta costume and exhibit, and the Olympic-themed "LA 84." The LA84 exhibit is on loan from Pat Clapp, a local who served as a volunteer at the UCLA Olympics gymnastics venue in 1984.

The Culver City Historical Society archive and resource center is located in the Veterans Memorial Building at 4117 Overland Blvd., and you can enter the society's exhibit space through the building's rear entrance, right off the rear parking lot.
The Summer Exhibit runs until the end of September, and t
he Archives is open the first and third Saturdays of the month, both afternoons of the Fiesta weekend, and by appointment.

In addition, Julie Lugo Cerra, Vice President of the Culver City Historical Society and Culver City Times member, informs me that the society rescued the oversize photos displayed in the currently-being-demolished Culver Plaza Theater. You can look forward to seeing many of them soon in the society's unique archive space.

Can't wait for the story on photos from the Culver Plaza - here's a shot of the mural. Funny what you miss when it's gone
