The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
In the week between Christmas and New Years, street art duo Dabs Myla painted a new work on the BrandedArt Building on Washington Boulevard, just west of National. The work took four days to complete and was inspired by the couple's Christmas tradition of donating bags of essential supplies including fruit and toothpaste to the homeless in and around Hollywood.
I took these of the couple at work on December 22.
The finished work is stuffed with beautiful comic details.
The artists were previously featured in a solo show at Culver City's Thinkspace Gallery this August 13th through September 3rd. They are are both originally from Melbourne, Australia, and they have been living and working in Los Angeels for the past two years.
The colorful new wall joins murals by Herakut, Andrew Hem, Cyrcle, David Flores in the space that has become a Mecca for muralists and street artists. The space is curated by Warren Brand of Branded Arts. You can read Warren's answers to my Eight Silly Questions, here.
You can see other works by Dabs Myla, examples of some some of their inspirations, and pictures of the couple working on the Culver City mural here.
