The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
9:00 a.m. – Community Parade
Representatives from some of the organizations and businesses that make Culver City such a great place to live, work, and play will participate in a fun (hopefully) parade. My daughter, for example, will be among those representing the Robotics Club at Culver City High School.
The parade will form up on Overland Blvd. between Culver Blvd. and Braddock and proceed to downtown Culver City at Culver Blvd. and Lafayette St. Come out and cheer on your neighbors!
11:00 a.m. – Noon – Opening Ceremonies
Then, the city will close off Culver Blvd at Main Street, marking the location of the original 1.2 square miles that became Culver City (Including the Culver Hotel at Culver and Main Streets.) There will be presentations by state and local dignitaries and long-time Culver City residents. They'll also be opening the time capsule from the city's 75th Anniversary in 1992.
12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Block Party of the Century
After the opening ceremonies, the streets of Downtown Culver City will be filled with performing artists competing for the Culver Cup People’s Choice Award—including a grand prize of $1,000. The Block Party will include creative musical and artistic activities for the whole family, and an (optional) Taste of Culver City experience will offer those who wish to pay $25 a sample of foods from all corners of the city.
