Transformative leader and author La Toyia Conway Hampton has made a habit of blazing trails.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month as well as Depression and Mental Health Education and Awareness Month. The World Health Organization estimates 5% of adults with depression globally. Hampton is on a quest to make sure Angelenos have the resources they need to combat these issues.
The nonprofit leader has been an advocate for domestic violence awareness and mental health prevention for decades and is a force for good in the greater Los Angeles community. Hampton's career spans more than 25 years as a leader who impacts real change. Hampton is a therapist, empowerment coach and motivational speaker. She works closely with women and girls at her organization Two-Lifestyles, Inc.
Hampton is renowned for the kindness that she shows to everyone, her willingness to help others, her selflessness, and her flexibility. Through her time, actions, and dedication, Hampton is committed to improving people's quality of life. Hampton's relentless passion as a community leader is helping people in the community overcome anxiety, fear, depression, poverty, inadequate educational resources, and low self-esteem.
Hampton is an irreplaceable asset to her community. In addition to her innovative spirit and perseverance, Hampton is a hard worker on the scene and behind the scenes who goes above and beyond the call of duty. In a lifetime of work committed to making a positive difference and connecting with others, Hampton is having a real impact. Grit and heart have fueled her philanthropy and social justice efforts before and during the pandemic to secure resources and necessary instructional materials to individuals at risk of failing through the cracks.
To her credit, Hampton has championed many efforts to help others rise higher. She has also spearheaded efforts inviting other women to share their perspectives and participate in meaningful conversations in order to affect positive social change. Through her speaking panels, symposiums and in-office training, she is hands-on with coaching others.
Hampton is also the brainchild behind "SheRose Academy," where she mentors girls ages 12-18. To date, her nonprofit organization has had more than 700 graduates of the program. She is currently gearing up for her "The She Experience" virtual symposium, which will be held October 21-23. The 10th Annual symposium will feature women guest speakers from around the country and will offer a stage for women to voice their concerns and feel empowered. Hampton has focused much of her energy on creating a better world for all and genuinely wants to help propel people forward. Her life's work is dedicated to helping those who are vulnerable get the resources they need to improve their quality of life. Her relentless energy can be seen through her commitment, courage, and leadership.
Over the years, Hampton has helped with community-wide efforts to provide food, essential items, including blankets, coats, clothing, household goods, and monetary offerings to the homeless and veterans, victims of domestic violence, and collaborated with and helped church food pantries. In addition, she has helped distribute toys and back-to-school supplies, among others.
