Why I'm Voting for Scott Malsin for Culver City Council

Since starting up this site, I have gotten to know Culver City Council candidate Scott Malsin well, and I am consistently impressed by his intelligence, his work ethic, his empathy, and his knowledge of the issues most important to Culver City. The guy really loves this city, and he's willing to fight to keep it on the right track. I'm pleased that there are several great candidates for our city council this year, but my heart is with Scott.

In the past couple of days I've received a couple of "Letters to the Editor" that also endorse Scott. I agree what they have to say:

Dear Editor

"I am a huge supporter of Scott Malsin and have been since way before he was ever a Culver City Councilmember!  I knew that with his determination, perseverance and intelligence he would be a huge asset to our city.  I was right.

"Just look at his history. Before he was even on the council he was a major force behind the renovation of Culver West Park. Scott was instrumental in getting a grant to transform it into such a beautiful park that I even though I live near Carlson Park, I often make the trek to Culver West with my kids!   Thanks to Scott, Culver West Park has been transformed into a lovely green space for all ages.  I am sure that is one of the many reasons he was elected to the council on his first go.  People knew with Scott they would get real results, not a lot of talk.  He had results before ever stepping into City Hall.  He knows the system, and how to work it to get the job done— not an easy task in a city like ours.

"While in office, Scott Malsin has been instrumental in so many different ways. He has a passion for our unique city, and for making sure it maintains the "Mayberry" feel while it continues its growth.  I would feel safe and confident knowing that he is in office because I know he shares all the same concerns I do and is the voice for people like me, who love Culver City and want to keep it the special place that it is today!

"That's why I'm voting for Scott Malsin, and I hope you will, too."

Dear Editor

In this era of polarization rather than collaboration, we need City Council representatives that are accessible, responsive and reasonable team players. We need Council members who are willing to make the tough decisions that will preserve our quality of life in Culver City.  Scott Malsin has consistently demonstrated all of these qualities and more.  In his long-term commitment to Culver City as an involved private citizen, Planning Commissioner and City Council person, Scott has always been glad to graciously engage with and learn from people that disagree with him so that he could discover the common ground necessary to work together to find practical solutions to our city’s problems.

Scott Malsin has the long-term experience needed for a thorough analysis of the City’s options as it faces the loss of redevelopment funds and other serious fiscal challenges.  We have been fortunate to have Scott Malsin working for our city, willing to step up and make those tough decisions. We should return him to the City Council. Join us in voting for Scott Malsin.

I am proud to have a Scott Malsin sign on my front lawn.  I encourage all  Culver City residents to attend his events between now and election day.  Get to know him, tell your neighbors, bring your neighbors.  I am voting for Scott Maslin and I hope you will too.  Like Scott I love this City and I want what's best for it and Scott is it.
