New Beats by Dre Headquarters in Culver City Draws Praise for Being Cool

The new headquarters that Beat's By Dre just opened in the Hayden Tract area of Culver City isn't too much to look at from the outside -- just a couple of industrial-looking buildings. But according to some design sites on the web, the inside of the two buildings -- home to 650 employees -- is another story altogether.

Says designboom.com, Beats president Luke Wood told designers Bestor Architecture and Loescher + Mechem Architects that he wanted "to make sure it was ‘the best place to work in LA’, for him that meant that it was cool and cutting edge but also comfortable and with a humanist environment for the people who work and visit there.'

According to fastcodesign.com, "The interior combines spaces saturated in deep blue and red paint with custom op-art wallpapers, and blond wood plucked from a primer on Scandinavian design. There’s even brass-lined staircase reminiscent of 1970s minimalist art."

Calling the headquarters "Exquisite and urbane," Decoist.com says "All the office spaces have a very natural appeal, with wood adding inviting warmth to the interior. Ample ventilation and sculptural lighting additions bring out the very best of the colorful additions, while smart metallic accents and environmental graphics make the entire headquarters even more exciting. Private spaces were kept to a minimum, and open-plan zones were effortlessly combined with co-working zones.
