Do You Hate Electronic Billboards?
Some people don't like electronic bilboards -- in fact, they are not permitted in Culver City. Last week, the Los Angeles Times reported that the 2nd District Court of Appeal may be leaning toward invalidating permits for 100 signs approved by the Los Angeles City Council in 2006 (including some that lie on the edge of the city, such the one above). It's a move heartens neighborhood activists who say that the billboards shine into homes, are a dangerous distraction to drivers, and are ... well ... ugly.
Personally, I do find them even uglier than regular billboards. Blade Runner references aside, I just don't like the idea of these humungous televisions cluttering up the skyline.

Hate them. They are too distracting. I hate the lights at night. Generally, they freak me out. On a more up note, I love Fatburger, and seeing the restaurant in this pic makes me want one!

Why don't they just turn them off at night? That would help mitigate the concerns of the people who worry they waste energy and those whose homes are invaded by their light.

I don't live under one, so maybe I don't get a vote, but I like them. They provide so much more information, and up-to-date info at that, than static billboards. I just appreciate the efficiency. The one at Sepulveda and Centinela is my favorite--I learn a lot while waiting for that left turn. :)
