Designing Weavers 2016 Exhibition

Inglewood, CA - The Branch Gallery is proud to present Art Looms, an exhibition with work exclusively from the Designing Weavers, a nationally recognized fiber guild based in Los Angeles. A dynamic range of work will be present, including tapestry wall hangings, sculptures, and garments. Each artist approaches weaving with unique fervor, producing a mix of representational and abstract woven imagery, along with other innovative weave structures. In addition to the fine art on display in the main gallery, there will also be functional objects for sale in a boutique on site. Such objects include handmade jewelry, basketry, scarves, and rugs.

The Designing Weavers have exhibited widely in the L.A. county area, most recently at the Sierra Madre Women’s club and Concordia University Irvine. Many of the members teach workshops at conferences and local guilds. The Designing Weavers are a strong force in the art and design community, and their mission to encourage and promote excellence in the fiber arts is clearly reflected in their work.

Participating artists in this exhibition include: Nicki Bair, Deanna Deeds, Susan E. Horton, Trish Lange, Eva McCracken, Michael Rohde, Deb Shoenberger, Sara Smelt, Rebecca Smith, and Cameron Taylor-Brown.
