The Latina Dance Theater Project and the Bootleg Theater are proud to present the BlakTina Festival, the first Los Angeles dance festival to focus on celebrating emerging and mid-career Black and Latina(o) choreographers. The BlakTina Festival is Licia Perea's brainchild and hopes to forge new boundaries in the dance festival scene in LA. BlakTina is being co-produced by Alicia Adams of the Bootleg and both organizations are committed to producing boundary-defying performances born from the diverse cultural and artistic landscape of LA.This first years' choreographers include Jasmine Burgos, Sofia Carreras, Hugo Diaz, Michelle Funderburk, Cyrian Reed, Dorcas Roman, Joshua Romero, and Eluza Maria Santos and a cast of almost 30 fantastic dancers!
The Blaktina Festival will be held Thursday thru Saturday, December 12-14, 2013 at 7:30pm. The Bootleg Theater is located at 2220 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90057. Tickets are $20, DRC member discount $15 [code: DRC] and can be purchased at bootlegtheater.org or by calling (213) 389-3856.
