The Thursday, January 31, 2013, California Yacht Club Yachting Luncheon:
“A Cruise Expedition through the Northwest Passage”
Global explorer, Rich Abele, will share highlights of his recent cruise through the Northwest Passage aboard the expedition vessel, Clipper Adventurer, at the California Yacht Club monthly Yachting Luncheon on Thursday, January 31.
Starting in Kangerlussuaq, Rich and his intrepid group of adventurers visited villages on the western coast of Greenland, crossed Baffin Bay and entered Nunavut at Lancaster Sound.  They then navigated onward the route pioneered by the famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen in 1905, along the Passage to Kugluktuk (north of Alberta), observing  amazing wild life and visiting historical sites and villages of ethnic Inuit peoples. All in all a kaleidoscope of geographic wonders on an  odyssey few have had the opportunity to experience.
