Join author Helena Ku Rhee and illustrator Colleen Kong-Savage for a fun chat about their debut picture book, The Turtle Ship. Hear about how the book came to be, the miraculous way two creators from opposite sides of the country first met and ask questions about the book's journey! The Turtle Ship is loosely based on the life of Korean hero Admiral Yi Sun-Sin of the 16th century Joseon dynasty. In the story, a young boy Sun-sin is inspired by his pet turtle to design one of the greatest battleships in history. Featuring a dynamic, folktale-like story and rich paper-collage illustrations that will transport you to another era, The Turtle Ship is a fascinating read for the entire family and will inspire you to dream big. For ages 5 to 8. Free
