Venice Design Series--Art and Architecture Tours, incl Culver City, April 29 – May 20
Series features original curated special events around Los Angeles, witharchitectural and cultural tours, luncheons, dinners and performances hosted bycutting edge visionary artists. Tickets available online.
A visit to acclaimed actor and director Tim Robbins’ Actor’s Gang Theater and a tour a of a Malibu home designed by iconic Los Angeles architect Frank Israel are parts of two events scheduled for the third annual Venice Design Series.
The six events will take place on Saturdays from April 29 to May 20.
“VDS showcases the incredible talent Venice is
home to, which is manifested throughout the entire
Southland, and well beyond. Tour-goers will experience architecture, cuisine, performance and art blended in a private and personal experience,” says cochair Jay Griffith, himself a noted landscape designer based in Venice.
“At the same time they are supporting an organization that creates affordable housing in Venice,” Griffith adds. Proceeds from the fundraiser go to the 28-year old,non-profit Venice Community Housing Corporation (vchcorp.org).
Sponsor packages and tickets are available at the Venice Design Series website (venicedesignseries.org), which features short descriptions of the tours and events. These include a kick-off party at a Spanish hacienda-style home thatwas once home to actor Eddie Albert and his wife, Margo, and a Culver City tour including stops at the architectural studios of EYRC, Morphosis, and Eric Owen Moss, which make the city a hub of contemporary visionary architecture.
Venice Community Housing works to preserve the economic, racial and social diversity of Venice and surrounding neighborhoods, maximizing affordable housing and economic development opportunities, and providing needed social services for the area’s low-income populations.
