Little Tokyo Historical Society presents their award-winning 30 min. short film, Lil Tokyo Reporter. In celebration of their upcoming projects in honor of Sei Fujii’s legacy, they are excited to host a free screening followed by Q&A with the director Jeffrey Gee Chin, actor Chris Tashima and executive producer Carole Fujita in Culver City:

Lil Tokyo Reporter has received 20 awards and recently screened in Fukushima, Japan and at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, Korea.

Originally filmed in downtown Los Angeles, Lil Tokyo Reporter is inspired by over five years of research on the life of historic newspaper publisher, Sei Fujii. The story takes place in 1935 Little Tokyo, where Fujii confronts the corruption that threatens the livelihood of his community. The cast includes Academy Award® winner Chris Tashima (Visas and Virtue), Keiko Agena (Gilmore Girls) and Eijiro Ozaki (Letters From Iwo Jima).

Recently, the lead actor Chris Tashima is featured in the critically acclaimed indie film, Under the Blood Red Sun, based on the best-selling wartime novel. Chris also will be a lead mentor in the Asian Professional Exchange – Martel’s Icons of Inspiration Program this year.

Director Jeffrey Gee Chin currently attends USC School of Cinematic Arts with an emphasis on Directing within Virtual Environments. This spring he will direct second-unit on a feature film adaptation of actor James Franco’s “Actors Anonymous”.

Upcoming projects with Little Tokyo Historical Society (LTHS) include a Civil Rights Monument honoring Sei Fujii’s contributions in Los Angeles, a historic designation for the  Japanese Hospital in Boyle Heights, and a translation of a biography written by Ken Sato on Fujii's life.
