Mu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, in conjunction with The Ivy Centennial Foundation will host a private moving screening for the film Hidden Figures, starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae.
Hidden Figures tells the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughn, and Mary Jackson. These three brilliant Alpha Kappa Alpha women were mathematicians who began working for NASA in the 1950’s and charted the launch of astronaut John Glenn into space. The film is presented by 20th Century Fox.
As January 2017 marks the 109th anniversary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated,
Mu Lambda Omega Chapter, the Ivy Centennial Foundation, and Sisters in S.T.E.M. will host a select group of 100 young ladies from 10 – 18 years old from all over Southern California on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center Cinemark Theater located at 6081 Center Drive, Suite 201, Los Angeles, CA 90045.
Mu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, is comprised of dedicated women who are devoted to service to all mankind. Mu Lambda Omega is committed to Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Program Initiative Launching New Dimensions of Service, which focus on: Educational Enrichment, Health Promotion, Environmental Ownership, Family Strengthening, and Global Impact. Through these programs, we continue to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.
Sisters in S.T.E.M. is comprised of women who support and inspire girls’ interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Ivy Centennial Foundation (ICF) is a 501c3 organization. Net proceeds to support scholarships and community service programs.
