Join award-winning author Hope Anita Smith for a poetry jam where every young poet has a voice. We are looking for sixteen poets, divided in two groups, ages 7-10 and ages 11 - 14. Each poet will get three minutes to recite or rap a poem or lyric they’ve written. The theme of this poetry slam is citizenship, civic responsibility, standing up for your rights, and what it means to be an American. Ms. Smith will select one poet from each age group, judged on poem content and performance, to receive a $25 Children’s Book World gift certificate; all other participating poets will receive $5 gift certificates. Call, come in, or send an email to cbwchildrensbooks@gmail.com to sign up to perform. Don't throw away your shot! Come join the fun and hear the voices of some exciting new poets and rhymesters!
