Septarian Concretions from Southwest Utah

Please join the Culver City Rock and Mineral Club on August 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, in the Multi-Purpose Room, to welcome Dick & Mary Pat Weber who will speak on Septarian Concretions from Southwest Utah.  Septarian concretions have been collected from Utah as mineral specimens and lapidary material for more than one hundred years.  They are prized for their bright yellow calcite and aragonite crystals, standing in sharp contrast to the gray limestone matrix.  In recent years this material has become popular for carvings and free-form jewelry.

Dick Weber holds a Masters Degree in Sedimentary Petrology from the University of Minnesota and worked as an exploration geologist throughout the United States.  He began collecting Septarians in 1978 and will bring specimens from his personal collection of both rough and polished material.

See you there!

Guests are always welcome.....

General Meetings are held the second Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Veterans Bldg., 4117 Overland Ave.  The Multi-Purpose Room is located in back of the Veteran's Memorial Auditorium Building.  When you enter the parking lot (from Culver Blvd - closest to Overland Blvd) walk to the right when facing the building.  Around the corner, you will a sign leading to the Multi-Purpose room.  Follow the sign and our meeting is in the room with all the glass windows and doors.
