California Yacht Club Sunset  Sailboat Series April 11- September 5

 The 48th annual 2012 Sunset Series begins Wednesday April 11 at The California Yacht Club, 4469 Admiralty Way, Marina  del Rey, CA 90292, and runs every Wednesday, except July 4th, through September 5.  The Series, which originated in 1964, is the largest racing Regatta of Sail Boats on the Santa Monica Bay with 21 scheduled races of 8 boat classes.  Traditionally, 65- 75 Sail Boats participate. Racing classes start in five minute intervals beginning 5:55pm. After racing each Wednesday, participants gather at the California Yacht Club for libations, BBQ and comaraderie. Racing boats are rated under the Southern California phrf rating system. The 2012 Sunset Series Regatta Chairperson is David Piper, who may be reached at david.r.piper@covad.net.

On Arpil 4, one week prior to the Series kickoff, a free, informative racing Seminar will be held at the California Yacht Club at 7pm  with presentations on racing rules, the racing course, starting signals and navigation.
