Event Description

On Sunday, July 23, from 2-6 p.m., Venice Boulevard: Explore the Corridor presented by Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) and powered by CicLAvia, celebrates the recent transportation safety improvements along Venice Boulevard.

This free event will feature a series of guided group bike rides and walks along the new protected bike lanes and safety features on Venice Boulevard, between National and Sepulveda, as well as routes through the surrounding neighborhoods. Venice Boulevard will remain open to cars, and we encourage participants to explore the area safely. Bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, scooters, strollers, walkers, and runners are all welcome. There will also be a Hub at Venice and Bagley with music, street games and other activities for all ages and abilities. For a full list of activities, visit ciclavia.org.

The City of LA’s commitment to redesigning streets for the comfort and safety of pedestrians and cyclists is in the hopes of reducing fatalities and severe injuries caused by car crashes. Through data-driven analysis, community engagement, and innovative solutions, LADOT has transformed Venice Blvd with enhanced infrastructure, optimized signage, improved crosswalks, and increased public awareness campaigns.

LADOT's mission is to lead transportation planning, project delivery, and operations in the City of Los Angeles. We work together and collaborate to deliver a safe, livable, and well-run transportation system in the city and region.

Inspired by Bogotá’s weekly ciclovía, CicLAvia has been temporarily closing streets to car traffic and opening them as public parks in Los Angeles since 2010. Now, with more than 275 miles of open streets, these beloved, always free to attend events are a celebration of L.A.’s diverse and vibrant communities. Over the past 13 years CicLAvia has helped communities re-imagine a greener and cleaner Los Angeles, while also promoting equitable transportation options, healthier lifestyles, and closer connections to community.

Upcoming 2023 CicLAvia events include August 20: CicLAvia–Koreatown meets Hollywood; September 17: CicLAmini–North Hollywood; October 15: CicLAvia-Heart of LA; and December 3: CicLAvia-South LA (Leimert Park meets Historic South Central).
