Summer Reading Program kicks off with the magical interactive folklore and multicultural story-based plays of 'We Tell Stories.' Children are chosen from the audience to dress up and participate in the plays. The performances of 'We Tell Stories' will take place every Wednesday afternoon in July at 2 p.m. with a different music-related theme each week. This week's performance is entitled Funky Fables and is a rollicking romp through Aesop's Fables. Plays performed will be: "The Birds, the Beasts and the Bat"; "The Lion, Jupiter and the Elephant"; "The Gnat and the Lion"; "The Hare and the Tortoise"; and "The Stag and the Vine."
These performances are made possible in part by a Culver City Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment. Space for 'We Tell Stories' performances is generously provided by the City of Culver city's Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department during the library closure.
Note: Children and teens may sign up for Summer Reading Program before and after performances and prize incentives may be collected at this time.
