LOS ANGELES, CA: reDiscover Center, LA’s largest public kids makerspace, is proud to announce enrollment for their 10 week summer camp season is nearing capacity. The camps, called “Tinkering School LA,” are held at reDiscover Center’s main location on Washington Blvd. in Culver City and at satellite locations in Manhattan Beach, Los Feliz, and Pacific Palisades.
“Tinkering School LA has been extremely popular here at reDiscover since we started the camps in 2011,” stated Jonathan Bijur, Executive Director of reDiscover. “Parents are excited that we teach 5-12 year olds life changing skills that give their children confidence while training them to safely use power tools, all under the supervision of our talented staff.” He continued, “We’ve increased the number of camp locations over the past three years in order to reach and teach more children who can’t make the trip to Culver City.”
“My kid was willing to give up all her video games for the entire summer if she could go back for a second week!” shared Hayley Salus, the parent of a Tinkering School LA attendee. “Learning to use these tools will be something she’ll never forget and gave her a massive amount of confidence that I hadn’t seen before. I’m still blown away by her creativity and the ingenuity that she applied in the monster castle they built, where she assembled a operational sliding door and massive tunnel.”
