Artist Bonia Helmer's "Here Be Dragons" Opens at George Billis Gallery in Culver City

Los Angeles-based artist Bonita Helmer's fourth solo exhibition at the George Billis Gallery opens this Saturday and runs through November 10. The opening reception - which is, as always, is free, open to the public, and sure to be a lot of fun - is Saturday, Oct. 13, from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Here's what George Billis Gallery has to say about Helmer's work: "Continuing her interest in unseen structures, Helmer’s latest body of work is concerned with the uncharted areas of science on a macro and micro level...The painting techniques she uses include a variety of contemporary mixed media including acrylic and spray paint. While being influenced by the California space and light movement, Helmer is also paying homage to art historical influences such as Delacroix, Magritte, Turner, and Caravaggio, to create a way to intertwine new ideas and old world painting aesthetics through the use of color theory, light and composition."

George Billis Gallery is located at 2716 S. La Cienega Blvd.
