The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
The Culver City Historical Society, with Samitaur Constructs, has organized a public art project at the iconic Samitaur Tower in the Hayden Tract area of Culver City from Sunset (around 8 pm) until 9:30.
Student artists from Savannah College of Art and Design and University of New Mexico were given the "canvas" of the 10 screens on the Samitaur Tower and asked to explore the question of how an image makes an impact in a short amount of time in a non-traditional view (from a car, train). Images from the Culver CIty Historical Society's archives were used as a part of the project. Kurt Kratchman, who curated the project, will be at the Tower to answer questions.
Drive by, park and walk, or hop on the Expo tonight to view the project, which runs about 20 minutes and will loop continuously.
Samitaur Tower is located at 8541 National Blvd. in Culver City.
