The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
National Geographic magazine recently profiled artist Stephen Glassman, who is trying to raise money on kickstarter to fund Urban Air -- his idea of creating a living bamboo garden in the billboard tower at La Cienega and the 10 Freeway in Culver City. The image above is a computer rendering of what it will look like.
As the video on his Kickstarter page puts it, "The genius of Urban Air is taking a vehicle that today is only providing a vehicle for advertising and turning it into something that contributes to the city.... It'll create an interruption in the clutter of our urban skyline.... It'll create some breathing space."
Glassman has already raised $50,000 toward the project but estimates that it will cost about $100,000.
