Charter School on Antioch University Campus in Culver City Will Offer Radical New Take on College Preparation

Da Vinci Charter High School has announced plans to open a new school on Culver City's Antioch University campus that will allow students to take high school classes and college classes simultaneously. The school's students will graduate in five years instead of four, but they will earn an associates college degree in addition to their high school degree. The high school diploma and AA degree will be free, and students will be able to continue at Antioch University at a reduced tuition or take their credits to another university to complete their bachelors degree. Launching the fall of 2013 with about 150 students, Da Vinci's school would be available to all students in Los Angeles County.

A $150,000 planning grant for the unique program has been provided by a consortium of organizations including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation.
