Culver CIty Council Requests Your Comment on Proposed Plastic Bag Ban

The Culver City Council has drafted a Single-Use Carryout Bag Ordinance that will ban single-use plastic carryout bags and require a minimum $0.10 per bag charge for single-use carryout paper bags.

They have organized two meetings this week to gather public input on this ordinance, including:

  • Tuesday, April 16 from 10:45 am to 11:15 am at the Senior Center, 4095 Overland Avenue, and
  • Saturday, April 20 from 11am to 11:30am in the Patacchia Room, 1st Floor, City Hall, 9770 Culver Boulevard

At both meetings, there will be a brief presentation by City staff followed by time for the community to ask questions and provide input.

What do you think of such a ban? Please share you thoughts in the comments!

The plastic bag has been a ecological disaster. I am glad we humans are finally taking responsibility and banning the plastic bag.

I'm surprised it's taken this long. My wife and I have used reusable bags for years.

I see no reason for banning plastic. I think people in culver city are responsible enough to dispose of them properly. Stop making things so difficult. Lets help get the homeless off the street by finding them help. Lets worry about our fine police and fire department by protecting their jobs.

I think we should absolutely ban the plastic bag. Down with the urban tumbleweed!
