Bringing to an end our long Winter of The Muddy Shoes, the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority has announced that it has entered into a contract with the All American Asphalt Company to pave the Culver City Expo Parking lot. None too soon.
According to the Expo's Parking Lot Report -- shown in HERE on the thesource.metro.net -- the company will lay down two to three inches of asphalt for a cost not to exceed $316,467.
The memo also contains this interesting bit of back-story:
During the implementation of Phase 1, the Culver City Station parking lot was designed to be a temporary parking lot which would eventually be turned over to the City of Culver City for future development. Due to the temporary needs of the parking lot, it was sealed using a cost-effective material intended to last for the interim. However, due to the high demand for the parking lot, the sealer hasbeen degraded in many places and is creating a dust and walking issue. TheExposition Metro Line Construction Authority (Authority) has recognized theconcern and determined that it would be best to pave the parking lot with two tothree inches of asphalt concrete in order to provide a smooth walking surfaceand minimize any possible dust pollution.
