The Argonaut newspaper just published its Best of the Westside 2014 issue, and Culver City held its own. Here’s a survey of the categories Culver City placed in:

2nd Place: Waterloo & City at 12517 W. Washington Blvd.
1st Place went to Father’s Office on Montana in Santa Monica
Waterloo & City also came in third in the category “Best Late-Night Eats”
Best Vietnamese Cuisine
1st Place: Pho Show at 4349 Sepulveda Blvd.,
Best Greek/Mediterranean Cuisine
Mykonos Greek Grill at 11164 W. Washington Blvd.
1st Place went to Gaby’s Express on Washington in Marina del Rey
Best Health Food Store
1st Place: Rainbow Acres at 13208 W. Washington Blvd.
Best Smoothies
1st Place: Rainbow Acres
Best Grocery Store
3rd Place: Rainbow Acres
Best Latin/South American Cuisine
2nd Place: Empanada’s Place at 3811 Sawtelle Blvd.
1st Place went to Cafe Brazil (also amazingly delicious) on Washington Blvd., which, because Culver City has crazy city line is actually in Mar Vista.
Best New Restaurant
1st Place: FIN Culver City at 12223 W. Washington Blvd.
Best Steakhouse
2nd Place: George Petrilli’s Famous Steaks at 5615 Sepulveda Blvd.
1st Place went to the Chart House in Marina del Rey
Best Karaoke
3rd Place: Backstage Bar & Grill at 10400 Culver Blvd
1st Place went to the Shack in Playa del Rey
Best Dance Studio
2nd Place: Your Neighborhood Studio at 3625 Hayden Ave.
1st Place went to Santa Monica School of Dance and Music in Santa Monica
Best Day Spa
3rd Place: The Lounge Spa at 4130 Sepulveda Blvd.
1st place went to The Institute at Marina Plastic Surgery in Marina del Rey

Again, by a quirk of mapmaking, Dreamworld Comics at 12402 Washington Place, which took home 1st Place, is located in Mar Vista.

1st Place went to Sport Chalet in Marina del Rey
Best Home Furnishings
3rd Place: Not Too Shabby at 11276 Washington Place
1st Place went to The Sofa Company in Santa Monica

1st Place: Alandales Men’s Clothing, Sportswear & Hair Studio at 9715 W. Washington Blvd.

2nd Place: Boulevard Music at 4316 Sepulveda Blvd.
1st Place went to McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica (naturally)

1st Place went to Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica

3rd Place: Doggie Central at 11818 Teale St.
