Artist Hugh Scott-Douglas's show, "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" opens at Blum & Poe Gallery in Culver City this Saturday, the 12th. The opening reception will take place from 6 to 8 pm (and the public is welcome as always).
It is the Canadian's first exhibition with Blum & Poe and his first solo-presentation in Los Angeles. Inspired by the highly stylized two-dimensional stage sets and the dream-within-a-dream narrative strategies of its namesake 1920 German Expressionist silent film, the exhibit is an ambitious installation comprised of "cyanotypes [blueprints], laser cuts, road cases, and slide projections."
The show will run until February 16. Blum & Poe is located at 2727 S. La Cienega Blvd.
