No Ice Skating in Downtown Culver City This Year?

Last December, downtown Culver City was transformed into a Winter Wonderland (am I overstating this?) with the installation of an ice skating rink in the empty space next to the Culver Hotel, known as Parcel B. However, Bietak Productions has informed Culver City staff that they will not be operating an ice skating rink on Parcel B this year as they were unable to raise sufficient funds from sponsors to support the operation.

My daughters and I went a couple of times last year, and we had a blast. But it wasn't exactly packed the times we were there. Did any of you out there go last year? What did you think? Will it be missed this year?

Wow, the Ice Chalet is cheaper than the Culver Ice Arena, which for one adult and two kids, is very pricey.

Visited the Ice Chalet in Palos Verdes this week and their ice rink is an anchor tenant in the mall - http://www.palosverdesicechalet.com/leagues/custom_page.cfm?clientI...

It might not have been the most ideal rink, but I'll fondly remember it as being the spot where I taught my boy how to ice skate last year (and it was also the first time I'd ice skated since I was about 11 yrs. old). Nevertheless, I thought it was a cool little neighborhood spot for some winter fun. I'll miss it for sure.

I didn't realize until afterwards that we could skate all year at the Culver Ice Arena. Seems like we'll have to now (if they stay open).

No great loss, was a nice idea, though the ice sucked and had puddles of water in most places.  One spill by any of the kiddies and their pants would be wet for the whole session.

Yes, we'll miss it, too!  It was a delightful use of the property while waiting to see what the State allows the City to do with it.  With our local Culver Ice Arena now working to negotiate to stay as a local attraction, I hope folks will consider ice skating there this winter.
