Portion of Ballona Creek Bike Path in Culver City Closed Through the End of July

The Ballona Creek Bike Path in Culver City will be closed between Overland Avenue and the pedestrian bridge through the end of July to accomodate the second phase of the Ballona Creek Rain Garden Project. This phase will include the installation of two new rain gardens that will use the rain water run-off from the adjacent Culver City Unified School District parking lot. The run-off will pass through four filtration catch basins and then into the existing landscaped slope area.

Here's the LADOT Bike Blog's suggested work-around for bikers: "You may consider heading Southeast across the Overland bridge and taking Ocean Drive or Virgina Ave. which both run parallel to the creek. You should be able to re-enter the bike path at Pedestrian Bridge near Ocean Drive and Westwood)."

Construction for this phase will cost approximately $30,000.
