This Thursday in Downtown Culver City: Reggae with Ghanaian artist Rocky Dawuni

If you're thinking about checking out any of the artists in Culver City's Music Festival (thursdays at 7 p.m. in the courtyard of Culver City City Hall), do yourself a favor and make it to see Ghanaian artist Rocky Dawuni and his 11-piece band. Rocky's music is a gentle, bouncy, and uplifting blend of reggae and african sounds, and Rocky has the charisma to get an entire crowd swaying and skanking.

The clip above is the catchy anthem that Electronic Arts used in their official FIFA Soccer World Cup 2010 videogame, and the one below is the sweet, sing-along single from his most recent album, "Hymns for the Rebel Soul."

Rocky appears as part of the Culver City Redevelopment Agency's free concerts every Thursday evenings from July 7 through August 25 at 7 p.m. in the courtyard of Culver City City Hall at 9770 Culver Blvd.
