The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
Construction is underway on the property known as Tilden Terrace at corner of Washington Blvd and Harter Avenue in West Culver City.
Last March the now-defunct Culver City Redevelopment Agency approved a development agreement with Tilden Terrace, LP (whose managing general partner is the Los Angeles Housing Partnership) to develop the site as a mixed use building. Tilden Terrace will include a three-story structure built over subterranean parking, and consist of nearly 11,000 square feet ground floor retail and commercial space -- and 33 units of affordable housing on the second and third floors. The units will consist of one, two and three-bedrooms. In addition, the project will include a community room, a multi-purpose room, a cyber-library, a rooftop community garden and two interior courtyards.
The project represents a major step in furthering the city’s efforts in meeting its obligations toward the Regional Housing Needs Assessment and the city's comprehensive housing strategy.
Mayor O'Leary (below, second from left) and other community members attended the project's official groundbreaking this Monday. According to the construction management company's web site, the demolition and earthwork will take about a month.
Here's what Tilden Terrace is supposed to look when it's completed in 2013:
