The tire is actually part of the sign for Davis Brothers Tires at the corner of Washington and La Cienega. The tire store and sign are right in the heart of the city's gallery district, so maybe I'm inclined to think about their iconic sign as another piece of art. 

Here's what the sign looks like when you're driving east on La Cienega -- just a giant tire in the sky.

Davis Brothers Tires itself is something of an institution; according to their sign, they've been around since 1937, and their reviews on Yelp are stellar.
