Additional Funding Will Ensure Culver City's Kirk Douglas Theatre Thrives

The Kirk Douglas Foundation has pledged additional funding to the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. The foundation announced this week that a total of $50 million would be split among four organizations, including St. Lawrence University (Douglas' alma mater), the Sinai Temple in Westwood, Harry's Haven Alzheimer's unit at the Motion Picture & Television Fund in Woodland Hills, and the Anne Douglas Center for Women in L.A, in addition to the theatre. The amount to be given to each organization was not announced.

Douglas helped to launch the theater in 2004, and has created an endowment fund for the development of new works. The Kirk Douglas Theatre is managed by L.A.'s Center Theatre Group, the same organization that runs Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum.
