The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
In June, Ford's Filling Station in downtown Culver City abruptly closed up shop. Now the Los Angeles Times has some great news: Akasha Richmond, the mastermind behind one of my very favorite Culver City restaurants (uh...Akasha) has signed a lease to take over the space and offer a menu she describes as "Indian-Influenced."
Indian food is, Akasha told the Times, "primarily about spices — masalas and masala blends. It’ll be Indian-influenced, but not a typical Indian restaurant. More small plates and street foods focusing on Indian flavors. But also things you eat at home too. Indian comfort food.”
The restaurant is scheduled to open in the spring, and Akasha points out that since the new space is right down the street ("25 steps exactly"), she'll have no problem overseeing both restaurants. I for one am very excited to see what she comes up with.
