The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
Two Culver City non-profit organizations received California Community Foundation grant awards this June. Best Buddies California received $60,000, and Exceptional Children’s Foundation received $85,000 as part of the Human Development grants.
The Los Angeles-based California Community Foundation awards money three times a year to nonprofit organizations for programs in the arts, education, health care, housing and neighborhoods, human development and civic engagement.
Best Buddies is dedicated to creating opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Exceptional Children's Foundation offers programs in early start, K-12 school, fine arts, developmental activity, residential living, independent living skills, work training, and supported employment, reaching nearly 2,300 children and adults with mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, acquired brain injuries, and related conditions. It operates programs out of 16 sites throughout Los Angeles county, including one in Culver City.
