The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
The Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra with Soprano Emma-Grace Dunbar will perform "An Afternoon at the Opera" this Sunday at 3:00 pm at Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Culver City. The performance, which costs $15 or $10 for students and seniors will consist of the following program:
Mozart: Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio
Donizetti: Overture to Don Pasquale
Puccini: Quando me’n vo from La Boheme
Delibes: Bell song from Lakme
Verdi: Caro nome from Rigoletto
Mozart: Deh vieni, Non Tardar from the Marriage of Figaro
Lehar: Vilia from The Merry Wives of Windsor
von Suppe: Light Cavalry Overture
Mussorgsky: Prelude to Khovanchina
Mascagni: Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana
Puccini: Scene d’opera (arr. ElMahmoudi) – World premiere
Wagner: Prelude to Act III from Lohengrin
Offenbach: Orpheus in the Underworld Overture

Founded in 1953, the LA Doctors Symphony Orchestra is one of the oldest community orchestras in the United States. Originally composed of only medical professionals, the orchestra now welcomes all accomplished musicians. Doctors Symphony Music Director since 1990 is Dr. Ivan Shulman. Soloist Emma-Grace Dunbar is a rising soprano maker her orchestral debut with the Doctors Symphony.
This performance is made possible in part by a Culver City Art in Public Places Program Performing Arts Grant with support from Sony Pictures Entertainment and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
