The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
As someone who remembers what Fisherman's Village in Marina Del Rey looked like 40 years ago (pretty much exactly the way it does now, folks), I think its redevelopment is a mixed blessing. I can't really tell whether its current shabbiness is charming or depressing -- do I have to choose?
As the latest renderings from Studio One Eleven (a division of P+R Architects) show, the Village's current leaseholders Gold Coast Village LLC seem to want to transform it into a more upscale, Santa Monica Place-ish attraction. The new proposal (now in its early stages) would include a five-story hotel, high-end retail and restaurants, a food court with a rooftop beer garden, parking garage, and an environmental education center.
Thoughts?
