New Condominiums Coming to Duquesne Ave.?

On Monday, June 13, the Culver City Council invites your participation in a public hearing regarding plans for a new building project at 4139 and 4145 Duquesne Ave.

The proposal from "On Duquesne LLC" is for a re-subdivision of the site into one lot holding seven condominiums in two buildings. The street-facing building will hold three units and the rear building will hold four units and 15 parking spaces in a subterranean garage.

This stretch of Duquesne Ave. is zoned "RMD," which allows Residential Medium-density Multiple units. In practice, the result is a mix of condominiums and single-unit houses. This is across the street:

And this is to the left of the properties in question:

Still, it's a bit of shame to see two houses go, to be replaced by a larger building. Naturally, it never seems to work the other way...

What do you think of the idea? Share your thoughts in the comments -- as well as with the City Council on June 13th.
