Space Invaders are Built and On Their Way to Downtown Culver City

Gigantic wooden "Space Invaders" will be touching down in downtown Culver City this week or next. As I explained back in June, the sculptures were commissioned by the City of Culver City as a game-themed temporary art installation in conjunction with the 2011 IndieCade International Festival of Independent Games, a celebration of independent games that will be held in downtown Culver City this October 6 through 9.

The brainchild of Los Angeles-based artist Jason Torchinsky, the "little guys" will be distributed throughout the downtown Culver City area. Tomorrow, I'll post an interview with Torchinsky that explores his influences and intentions for this pieces.
