Does anybody have an update on the Stairs of Culver City at the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook?
I was there last Sunday in the windstorm - just beautiful - and came upon the washed out trail at the bottom.
It was marked as closed so we hiked up the street. The steps were open at the top but as you hiked down it wasn't clear where to return to the road. So we came upon the closed section - muddy and we had to climb the fence.
And every time I go there and park on the street - I do remark at the cars whizzing by so close with no pedestrian light.
Does anybody have an update? Is the bottom of the trail still closed? When will the pedestrian light and other
improvements be started at least.
I will try to get an answer this week, but if you know ...

It seems to me that they're making some kind of improvements to the entrance of the trail. As a consequence, the entrance was closed. People still get to the steps by going around on the street, but that bypasses that bottom leg. I remain hopeful that the entrance will be completed and the trail will be restored. After all, Culver City has a good thing going with these steps. I hope they don't blow it.
Since it is a CA State Park, I suppose it's a funding issue that will wait out the state budget.
