The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
On November 5, 2013, Culver City citizens will elect three new Culver CIty School Board members. There are seven candidates running this year, and the Culver CIty Real Estate Voice is offering brief video interviews of three of them -- Sue Robins, Steve Levin, and Karlo SIlbiger. Here is a brief excerpt from each:
Sue Robins
“What I offer the school district is the ability to look at issues from a wide variety of perspectives….I look at things as a businessperson, as a parent, as a volunteer, as a PTA President, as a chamber of commerce member, and most importantly as a teacher. So I understand the way these groups look at an issue.“

Steve Levin
“As an astrophysicist for NASA, I’m the project scientist for Juno, which is a billion-dollar mission, a spacecraft on its way to Jupiter. So I have some experience with management, with working with large projects, with working with teams to bring them to consensus, and with making things happen through the bureaucracy.

Karlo Silbiger
“As a current school board member, I’m so proud of the work we’ve done over the last four years. We’ve made so many important contributions. Things like, for example, our solar project, which is being built as we speak and will generate about $400,000 into the general fund – and of course teach our kids about conservation. Things like extending the Spanish emersion program into the middle school. Things like bringing back a full music program.”
