That's it, alright. I took the picture from ... a room at The Culver Hotel. I don't know much about it, personally. It was built in 1923. Now it's a weekly rate kind of a place....

While I'm scratching my head trying to figure out where the photo was taken from (top of the Pacific 12 building?), the sign sits atop 3927 Van Buren Place, behind the CCUSD offices / Linwood Howe - maybe our City Historian has more colorful information on it.
