The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
Every other Friday, I post a picture of something in Culver City that is 'hiding in plain sight.' Last week I asked: Do you know where in Culver City this futuristic sign is?
I was worried that this one would be too hard for you people. After all, we're talking about approximately one square yard of Culver City. But I've been staring out at that sign as my Expo Line train passes it every weekday morning -- thinking about what seems to retell another jaw-dropping work from Culver City's architectural visionary Eric Owen Moss. And I figured that maybe there were others out there equally fascinated.
Sure enough, we received four correct answers -- the corner of Jefferson and National. "Where Am I" mainstays Poppalarge (who was the first under the wire) and Narvo both knew the sign. Dylan Gottlieb checked in with his second correct answer. And Ryan Krueger registered his first.
Narvo kind of summed up my response to the sign when he commented, "I see this sign all the time and fantasize about how cool that thing would be. It's freakin' monstrous...Man, how soon is "soon?" I haven't even seen a trace of development yet. I'm guessing like, 2018 or 2020 lol"
