The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
Periodically, I post a picture of something in Culver City that is 'hiding in plain sight.' Last week ago I asked: Do you know where in Culver City this colorful wall is?
Out of three entrants, two Culver City Times members correctly identified this as being a new (and quite welcome!) addition to the corner of Washington and Higuera (8970 Washington Blvd.)
First-time player Jill S. Thompson was actually the first to name it. Congratulations Jill! She also shares her enthusiasm for the work and the building itself: "That mural is brand new, I love it! It's on the side of what I call the "little house" on Washington & Higuera :) I have a dream of one day opening a chocolate shop there."
Thanks go out also to Doug Lemon (who nailed it, and submitted his own photo in the comments section of the post) as well as first-time entrant Barbara Effros.
The piece is by artist Jason Woodside. Here's what he looks like:
And some more examples of his work:
I think it's safe to say that it's Rapt Studio who's responsible for the work. Here's how they describe themselves:
Rapt Studio is an award-winning, multidisciplinary, design practice based on the belief that great design can transform the way we live and work. From offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Delhi, India, our aim is to blur the lines between the physical and the virtual: and to shift the conversation from what people and products do, to what they mean.
And their clients:
