The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
The RundownLA recently put out the alert that there's a new bar on the site of the old Saints & Sinners bar on Venice Boulevard in Culver City: Oldfields.
The article describes the bar's old-timey aesthetic, and adds:
Put-hair-on-your-chest cocktails include the Bols Genever-spiked Dauntless and a tequila, honey, and grapefruit concoction called Outlaw. At the daily happy hour (5-9p) four of the old-fashioned drinks are $7. Craft beer and wines go for $6.
The LA Weekly fills in some details about the food menu:
Local chef Chester Hastings, author of The Cheesemonger's Kitchen, has created a small menu of seasonal bar sandwiches inspired by the Spanish bocadillo: Fra' Mani ham with black cherry jam, Challerhocker cheese with rosemary and apricot mostarda, Valhrona chocolate with olive oil and sea salt.
The bar is owned by the same people that own Bigfoot Lodge West, right down the street (and the original Bigfoot in Los Feliz. They seem have have quite the monopoly on this stretch of Venice (between Sepulveda and Overland).
Oldfield's is located at 10899 Venice Blvd.
