At this Monday's Culver City Council meeting, Councilman Jeff Cooper was elected Mayor of Culver City. Congratulations, Jeff. And thanks for all you do for the city!

I can say from personal observation that Jeff earned this position through hard work and tireless service to Culver City. As a seasoned member of the Culver CIty Council and dedicated member of the Culver City Exchange Club, he gives generously of his time and attention -- for little or no reward other than the satisfaction of giving back to his community. To site but one example, for at least the last couple of years (and maybe longer), he's taken the lead in organizing the Culver City Car Show, and much of the success of those events can be attributed to his toil.

Not to mention ... he's a hell of a nice guy.
