The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
Culver City staff is working with Los Angeles-based coffee and baked-good purveyor Lamill Coffee to negotiate terms of a lease and resolve design issues related to opening a coffee concession operation in Media Park in downtown Culver City. Staff is meeting with City of Los Angeles staff members to discuss details of Lamill’s operation and the forthcoming permitting process.
What are your thoughts about Media Park -- that pretty little park at the corner of Venice and Culver Blvds in Culver City's downtown, home to Actors' Gang Theatre? Will a coffee concession make it more inviting?

It sets an interesting precedent. Can other businesses do the same thing in other parks, based on this? Similar to the quandary over food trucks - is it fair for a person without paying rent for the square footage of a building to sell their goods in close proximity to a business who does have the overhead - i.e., Starbucks.
Are they a non-profit? Do their proceeds go to the Actor's Gang?
Assuming it's good coffee, I like the option of having it there, though.
