The Online Community for Culver City – The New Scene
Periodically, I post a picture of something in Culver City that is 'hiding in plain sight.' Last week I asked: Do you know where in Culver City this flowery couple is?
Culver City Times member -- and 'Where Am I' stalwart -- Doug Lemon correctly identified it as being located at the corner of Washington and National Blvd. To see it, just peak under the Metro line, on the south side of Washington. In fact, it's one of the few murals remaining from the once-mighty Branded Arts Building complex. This piece, entitled "The Guardian," is by artist Zio Ziegler.
This game was a bit tough, it seems. Even Doug relates his difficulty in finding the mural: "It only took me 3 days and 25 miles of biking this time. I knew I had seen it before. I traveled the whole length of Washington Blvd from Costco to Fairfax but never looked back at where I thought all the murals had been removed. Finally saw it this morning."
Here's Doug's pic of the whole mural:
Doug also kindly directed me to some images, from the Unurth web site, of the artist at work on the piece:
And here's the artist and more (jaw-dropping) examples of his work -- images that make me feel lucky to have him represented in Culver City:
