Early last week, a new restaurant -- called Muddy Leak -- opened at the former home of Batch restaurant in the Culver CIty Art District. The brain-child of caterer Bon Melange and chef Whitney Flood, the restaurant has been described as "super-seasonal." The inaugural menu offers duck with kumquat relish ($25), juniper-venison with foraged mushrooms (438), and wild-caught alaskan halibut with (aforementioned) melted leeks ($26). Thanks to LA Eater, you can peruse the whole…

The Culver City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department is sponsoring a special free screening of the Marx Brothers' "A Night at the Opera" at Veterans Auditorium this Saturday afternoon at 3:00. Last Monday a three-judge panel, convened by California's 2nd District Court of Appeal, ordered the removal of more than 100 digital billboards across Los Angeles.
In fact, the panel declared that the Los Angeles City Council never should have allowed Clear Channel and CBS Outdoors to erect the signs in the first place, since a 2002 ordinance banned their installation except in certain districts. Yet in 2006 the city council granted the companies exclusive rights to…

Also, I want to mention there is a brand new gallery in the neighborhood called "The Word is ART Gallery".
Be sure to stop by and say "hello" to the gallery owner Renee Troy. The address is…

What better location to host a night dedicated to human rights than the Wende Museum?
The venue’s collection of Cold War artifacts includes many reminders of oppression in Soviet Bloc countries. It was fitting, then, that it opened its doors Dec. 4 to members of the Lund University Foundation, a U.S.-based fundraising organization for Sweden’s Lund University.…
